Carmen

Carmen is a stylist at STrUT Oakland and has been licensed since 2007. She started her career at Red Chair Salon in San Francisco after getting licensed, first working there as a shampoo and blow-dry assistant. She then apprenticed for seven years at Festoon Salon in Berkeley, where she trained in hair cutting and coloring using a Vidal Sassoon approach, covering layers, graduation and short cuts for men and women.

Her training also includes a Laney College Department of Cosmetology program, an ABC cutting class at Vidal Sassoon completed in 2010, and Deva-inspired training at the Soho Salon/Academy in New York City. At Festoon Salon she took balayage and ombré classes.

Her color education covers foil placement, corrective color, grey coverage and blending, bleach and toning, and punky colors. She has trained in L'Oréal Professional, Wella, Davines and Affinage color treatment lines. Her specialties include creative edgy cuts, scissor-over-comb barbered cuts for men, women's short hair and wedding hair.
