About
Founder of Brighton Foot & Ankle, Bryant Castelein, DPM, is a board-certified podiatric surgeon at the practice. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago and holds a master's degree in Healthcare Administration. His residency took place at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan, where the work centered on foot and ankle reconstruction, diabetic wound care and limb preservation. Clinical training followed at several Veterans Affairs and county hospitals, and during residency he added certifications in dermatology and foot and ankle arthroscopy.
Revisional surgery for failed foot and ankle procedures is an area where he has extensive experience, alongside reconstructive work that includes revision cases and second opinions. Diabetic foot care covers neuropathy management, ulcer treatment, Charcot foot care and diabetic footwear. He also practices sports medicine, wound care and arthroscopic ankle procedures, treating sports injuries such as turf toe and tendon injuries, and he evaluates recurring ankle sprains, including those treated with the Brostrom procedure. Plantar warts are treated with salicylic acid, cantharidin or surgical excision. His training spans the full range of traumatic foot and ankle injuries.
For ankle fracture surgery, he uses minimally invasive incisions, flexible implants and ultrasound to support bone healing, and each operation is planned around the fracture type, its severity and patient-specific details. With heel pain, he looks for the underlying cause before building a treatment plan. He sees new patients, coordinates care with area physicians, and keeps current through physician conferences, surgical courses and active involvement in residency programs.
