About

Andrew Gear, MD founded Providence Plastic Surgery & Skin Center, where he serves as medical director and oversees the aesthetic team of injectors, estheticians and a CoolSculpting provider. He is a board certified plastic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and belongs to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. RealSelf lists him as a Verified Doctor. He has close to twenty years of surgical experience, spanning private practice and a corporate cosmetic medical organization. He trained at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, where he also did a research fellowship in burns and wound healing under Dr. Richard Edlich. At the University of Minnesota he completed a general surgery residency, a three-year plastic surgery residency and a research fellowship on the genetics of keloids. He later finished a six-month craniofacial and pediatric fellowship and a six-month cosmetic surgery fellowship in Los Angeles. His focus is breast and body contouring, including complex cases such as post-weight-loss contouring, revision liposuction and male body sculpting. Patients most often request breast augmentation, tummy tuck, 360 liposuction, mommy makeover or breast lift. He prefers subtle, individualized changes to trend-led procedures, and he conducts an in vitro biomechanical study of breast implant irrigation solutions. Surgical and non-invasive options are matched to each patient's body, daily life and objectives, with surgery planned around long-term health and natural results. He is one of the top plastic surgeons on the East Coast, and he was the first plastic surgeon in North Carolina to bring enhanced recovery protocols with BIS brainwave monitoring. He has won the Charlotte's Best and Charlotte BOB Awards.

Approach
He customizes each surgical plan to the patient's anatomy and goals and discusses it after the exam.
