About

Alexander Ovchinsky is a facial plastic surgeon with two board certifications, and he also has physician training with an ENT background. He founded Plastic Surgery of Short Hills, where he serves as Medical Director, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a nationally recognized rhinoplasty expert with decades of experience helping patients meet their aesthetic goals.

He graduated with honors from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn School of Medicine and was chosen for the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He finished a residency in head and neck surgery at that same SUNY center in Brooklyn, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. The fellowship addressed cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on the face, nose, eyes, ears, head and neck. His training also covered laser surgery, minimally invasive procedures and endoscopic facial plastic surgery. Primary and revision rhinoplasty is his main focus, with training and experience in both cosmetic and functional nasal surgery. He often uses grafts to support nasal structure, refine shape or improve breathing.

He is a full-time faculty member in the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he holds the rank of Assistant Professor and takes part in clinical research and resident teaching. He received the Peter Shindler Memorial Award for dedication to patient care and resident teaching, and New Jersey Monthly Magazine named him Best Rhinoplasty Doctor in NJ for 2018 through 2022. He is active in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, where he served on the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Committee, and he belongs to the New York Facial Plastic Surgery Society. His research and publications cover rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery. He has volunteered on surgical missions abroad treating congenital facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate, and he regularly joins discussions on RealSelf.com.
