Dr. Alexander Ovchinsky

Plastic Surgery of ShortHills was founded by Alexander Ovchinsky, who serves there as Medical Director, surgeon and owner. He holds two board certifications in facial plastic surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is both a physician and an ENT.

He graduated with honors from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed a residency in head and neck surgery at the same SUNY center, then a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, which included laser, minimally invasive and endoscopic training.

He is a full-time faculty member in the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he joined as an Assistant Professor and takes part in clinical research and resident teaching. He has published research on rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and served on its Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Committee. He has taken part in voluntary surgical missions abroad treating congenital facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate. His special interest is primary and revision rhinoplasty, including liquid rhinoplasty, and his practice spans cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgery, including minimally invasive and endoscopic approaches.

He adapts the surgical technique to each patient rather than using one standard procedure, with the aim of meeting each patient's expectations. He has decades of experience helping patients reach their aesthetic goals and is known for his results and for helping patients keep a youthful look. New Jersey Monthly Magazine named him Best Rhinoplasty Doctor in NJ from 2018 to 2022, and he received the Peter Shindler Memorial Award for patient care and resident teaching.
