Aki Serita Takashio began as a hair stylist in Kanagawa, Japan, and moved to New York in 1996 to keep working in hairdressing. Before opening the salon, she built a loyal clientele and served clients from a private studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
She opened Commune Salon on Grand Street in 2004 and now works as the owner stylist. Her work spans cutting and color, and she is bookable Tuesday through Saturday.
