XOX Hair Studio opened in 1991 as a hair-only salon. After a remodel, the studio added nail, makeup and esthetician services alongside its hair work, and it has served clients in the Chicago area since it first opened.

The space is open-concept and loft-style, with a rustic urban look and a relaxed feel. Haircuts are done in front of oversized reclaimed mirrors. The salon has two manicure stations, two pedicure stations, a makeup bar and a retail area.

The salon describes its stylists as passionate and its product range as wide. Gift cards come in $25, $50, $100, $200 and $500 values, can be bought in store or online, and can be used on any product or service. Earlier or later appointments can be arranged on request.

Hours are Monday to Thursday 9am to 6pm, Friday 8am to 7pm, and Saturday 7am to 4pm, with Sunday closed. The salon asks for 24 hours' notice to cancel, and charges 50% of the scheduled service price for last-minute cancellations. If a client is unhappy with a service within 14 days, the original stylist tries to resolve it, then another stylist does, and a full refund is given if the client is still unhappy. Products can be exchanged or refunded if returned within 14 days of purchase.
