Xotic Locs Studio

Xotic Locs Studio is based at a suite on Fairlawn Avenue in Laurel and focuses on locs. Services range from starting new locs and routine maintenance and styling to extensions, MicroLocs, wicks, and repairs to locs that need restoring. Scalp therapy and detox treatments are also offered, and consultations are available for clients who want to talk through their options first.

Installations such as loc extensions, MicroLocs, instant locs, and wicks are booked with a 30% non-refundable deposit that is applied to the total. The remaining balance is due in full on arrival, before installation starts, and some installations may require payment in cash, with the accepted method shared before the appointment. Clients are asked to sign a service consent form before any installation begins. A consultation may be required before extensions, MicroLocs, instant locs, wicks, major repairs, and corrective work, and consultation pricing does not include the installation itself unless stated.

Booking changes have set timing. Appointments can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice, and the deposit can move once to a new date. Shorter-notice changes, missed calls, and no-shows forfeit the deposit, and a new one is needed to rebook. There is a 15-minute grace period, and later arrivals may have their appointment shortened, changed, or rescheduled. Concerns about a service should be raised within 72 hours of the appointment, and clients should not alter the service before contacting the salon first.

The studio also runs Xotic Locs Academy, which offers hands-on loc education for aspiring locticians, working professionals, and beauty entrepreneurs. Courses include a handmade loc extension creation class using human hair and crochet techniques, an advanced installation training in the studio's own undetectable loc extension method, and a two-day course for teens that provides a mannequin head, combs, clips, practice products, and training materials. Tuition is listed for each course, and a deposit is required for the two adult courses.
