Xo Links was founded in 2020 by Phillodel Black (Phyllii), who began offering services in Miami, Florida before launching the business. A second location opened in Kingston, Jamaica in 2020, and the salon describes it as the first micro-links salon in that city.

The salon describes its extensions as luxury, 100% virgin hair. The products are 100% Remy human hair, handcrafted with the cuticle intact by trained experts. Installation methods include Single Weft Microlinks for thin to fine hair, Double Weft Microlinks for medium to thick hair, and ITIP Microlinks, which are individually placed pieces with no weft. A full head of I-Tips is generally about 250 pieces, or 5 bundles, though this varies with hair and style. Microlinks are best suited to hair at least 4.5 inches long, enough to cover the microbeads and pass a ponytail test.

The group hands-on masterclass runs about 5 hours and covers Single Weft, Double Weft and ITIP techniques, priced at $1,300 with a deposit required and the balance due on the day. A one-on-one Luxury Microlinks masterclass is listed at $2,500 over six hours and covers theory, preparation, texture matching, maintenance and removal, consultation, and tips on booking, branding and marketing. Attendees receive a Pro Kit, a handbook and training manual, a Certificate of Completion, and access to a private community group. The salon says graduates have the potential to earn $1,000 or more a day. Masterclass recordings may be kept for future reference, but anyone who posts one on social media must mute the audio.
