Wound Therapy provides physical therapy wound evaluation and treatment from its office on Southbridge Street in Mooresville. The practice works with patients whose wounds are complicated or not healing, and it coordinates care with the patient, their family and their healthcare providers.
Most patients are seen one to three times a week. Daily wound care is available when it is indicated, and the practice teaches patients how to help prevent wounds from returning.
The practice works on wounds that have not healed, among them ulcers of venous origin, pressure sores, diabetic foot ulcers, wounds of arterial origin, hematomas (blood collections under the skin), infections following surgery, cellulitis, atypical wounds and other complicated cases. For offloading, the options are total contact casting, soft casting, custom casting and pressure relief.
Wound Therapy works with physicians, podiatrists and nurse practitioners. It can help arrange diabetic shoes, compression garments and dressings for home use, and it can assist with referrals for patients who need an outside provider. Patients need a primary care provider or podiatrist to sign treatment orders, and an order is not required to begin care but is helpful.
Care focuses on treating the wound and teaching patients how to reduce the chance of recurrence, with the patient, their family and their healthcare providers involved in planning.
