The studio focuses on medical wigs and toppers for people with hair loss from chemotherapy, cancer treatment, alopecia, or other medical causes, along with toppers that fill in sparse or thinning areas, cover loss, or add a bang. Pieces are built by hand, then thinned, cut, styled, and steamed to soften box hair so they sit more like natural hair before fitting. Each fitting is done in person at the salon, at a private residence, or at a hospital, and virtual consultations are available alongside in-person ones.
Help with insurance is part of the service. The team can prepare an estimate for an insurance company, handle much of the process virtually, and assist with documentation, choosing a medical topper or wig, and reimbursement. Coverage varies by provider and diagnosis, and many plans may cover medical wigs or toppers prescribed as a cranial prosthesis.
Free services started after volunteering at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, and wigs and custom wig and hat services are still offered at no cost to children and young adults aged 21 and younger facing medical hair loss.
Custom, handmade pieces built around each client in private, one-on-one appointments.
