Westbrook Electrolysis is an electrolysis business at 5401 College Boulevard in Leawood, Kansas. Its team of three licensed electrologists includes Brandon, Pam and Sydney Westbrook. The business says its purpose is to bring out clients' natural beauty and confidence, starting from the belief that everyone is naturally beautiful and unique, while acknowledging that insecurities can hold people back. It also says it uses newer technology and continuing education to keep its methods current.
Electrolysis places a fine probe into the opening of each hair follicle and sends a small electric current through it to destroy the tissue that grows hair. According to the practice's FAQ, the method works on all skin and hair types and colors and can be used on every body area except inside the nose and ears. With current machines, the sensation is compared to a small warmth or a small pinch. The number of sessions needed varies from client to client and cannot be stated in advance.
First-time clients can book a free consultation by phone. At that appointment the electrologist reviews the client's needs, outlines the available options and suggests a treatment plan. Three treatment methods are offered, and the electrologist picks the method and probe for each client. Probe choices are gold-plated or stainless steel, one-piece or two-piece, and insulated or non-insulated. Sessions run 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with 90-minute and two-hour options as well. Listed prices start at $80 for 15 minutes and go up to $250 for two hours. The two-hour session is meant for starting a new area and does not cover the face.
The Time Saver uses two or three electrologists working on one client at the same time, which the business says halves treatment time. It suits permanent hair removal on underarms, legs, arms and back, and the business describes it as a unique service.
Before a treatment, the FAQ suggests sunscreen, avoiding sun exposure, moisturizing without oily lotions and exfoliating, with an optional numbing cream applied an hour beforehand on sensitive areas. Afterward, avoid deodorant for 24 hours following underarm treatment and makeup for 24 hours following face treatment. Appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours ahead; later cancellations incur a 50% charge for the time lost, and advance payments are not refundable.
Electrologists tailor each plan, choosing one of three methods and a probe type for every client.
