Waxing B.A.Y. is operated by Akeya Young, who works as the only esthetician. Appointments were previously taken at C Alan Salon Suites off Rhode Island Avenue, but that is no longer the case. The studio is now at 910 17th Street NW, Suite 1020, inside Yao Shan Center for Chinese Medicine.

About

Everything is booked by appointment only, with no walk-ins. Bookings can be made online at any hour, and same-day appointments are sometimes available. A credit card is needed to hold a booking, even when a promotional voucher is used. On arrival, clients text HERE to the confirmation number, and a client information and waiver form is completed before the first service.

Each session begins with a hydrating base, and services are adjusted to each client's skin. Waxing is done with chocolate candy-paste hard and soft waxes, using latex-free gloves and sterilized tools, and the treatment room is cleaned and sanitized after every client. A strict no double-dipping rule applies to waxing sticks.

Before a wax, clients are asked to avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours and to leave hair unshaved and untrimmed for at least three weeks. Waxing every 4 to 6 weeks is the suggested interval. Clients who are on their period may still be waxed while wearing a clean tampon.

The signature service is the Bare with Care Brazilian wax. Bikini and Brazilian waxes include a belly trail wax at no extra cost. The business describes itself as renowned for the least painful Brazilian wax in the DC metropolitan area.
