Wax & Lash opened in Denver in December 2013 as a two-room studio. Tawnya Fornerod founded it; she is a Denver esthetician with about 25 years in waxing and esthetics and now works behind the scenes from Southern Oregon. Roeland Fornerod is co-owner and has built out each studio. The business has moved several times over the years, and it has been waxing men in Denver since 2013.

A visit starts at the door, with no front desk: the esthetician comes out to greet you, and at Berkeley a drink is offered in the waiting room. For intimate services the esthetician leaves the room so you can undress privately, and every intimate wax begins with a hot towel to soften the hair. Single-use tools are used throughout. Men's waxing takes place in private rooms with the door closed. Estheticians stay with the business, so you can see the same person on each visit and they can keep track of your preferences.

Aftercare runs through Just The Strip, an aftercare and skincare line Tawnya Fornerod started in early 2020. The products are made in-house, used in both studios, and sold in studio and at justthestrip.com. The Central Park space was once the warehouse and offices for Just The Strip.

The two locations share one roster of staff, one service menu and one price list. The Berkeley studio has four treatment rooms, a lounge and a hand-painted floral mural, with free parking both in front of and behind the building. Central Park has two treatment rooms on the ground floor of an office building, with no stairs to climb and free parking directly out front. According to the business, its studios together have received more than 2,000 five-star reviews.

The studios specialize in soft wax, using hard wax only for noses and ears and offering no sugaring. Estheticians are licensed and trained in the same low-pain technique at both studios, and they stay with the business so clients see a familiar person.
