About

Wax 201 was opened by owner Joi after she built a large clientele. The studio is in River Edge and serves clients across Bergen County. Clients can call or text 201-895-9506 to book, and the business is on Instagram at @wax201_.

The menu is broad. Arm waxing comes as half or full arm. Back waxing is available by lower, upper, mid or full back. Legs can be done as lower, upper or full legs. Face waxing covers brows, sideburns, nose, upper and lower lip, chin, cheeks, ears and hairline, and chin waxing includes the lower lip. Chest and full stomach are separate services, and neither includes the other.

The intimate services are set up by coverage. A Brazilian removes as much or as little hair in front as the client wants and includes the butt strip. A bikini does the same in front but leaves out the butt strip. A bikini line removes only the hair along the sides of the panty line. Bikini and Brazilian services are available only to clients with vaginal genitals. All other services are open to male clients.

Brow services include brow waxing, brow tint without a wax, and brow lamination, which includes a brow wax and takes about 60 minutes. The tinted version takes about 75 minutes.

Listed prices run from $14 for hairline, upper lip or lower lip waxing up to $134 for brow lamination with tint. Brazilian is $65, bikini is $56 and full back is $70.

Booking requires a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the service total. Services can be swapped at the appointment, but a deposit for a dropped service is not refunded. Clients who are 5 minutes or more late may need a new appointment with a new deposit. Clients must be at least 18, and walk-ins are not accepted. Clients using a physical gift card must text to book.

The business says it keeps the highest hygiene standards and describes its waxing as virtually pain free.
