VU Hair New York is on the 21st floor at 700 Fifth Avenue, in the penthouse suite of the Peninsula Hotel. Vu Nguyen founded it as his own salon on Fifth Avenue, the same avenue where he first started his career, and he still works as master stylist alongside a team of colorists, a stylist and makeup artist, and a nail technician and esthetician.

Services cover haircuts and styling, color from single process to highlights, gloss and vivid shades, and treatments including keratin and deep conditioning with a frizz tamer option. The salon also offers makeup for events and weddings, men's grooming with styling, beard trims and men's color, extensions, all-natural henna color, and manicures and pedicures. The color team tailors color to each client while keeping the hair in good condition.

Bridal and wedding day packages cover hair, makeup, or both, and pricing differs depending on whether Vu or another stylist does the work. In-room service is available at double the salon price, with a 20% gratuity added to all services. Prices are subject to change.

The salon is open Monday from 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and is closed on Sundays. Contact is by phone at (212) 903-3081 or by email at info@vuhair.com.

Color is personalized for each client, with attention to keeping the hair in good condition. Vu's view is that a hairstyle can serve as a foundation for each individual.
