VBrows

VBrows is based in DUMBO, Brooklyn, and describes its focus as intentional brow design that enhances what a client already has. Every service is adjusted to the client's natural brow shape and facial features. Shaping starts with brow mapping, and hair removal is done with waxing or threading, chosen and placed for each face.

The permanent and semi-permanent menu is built around cosmetic tattooing and tinting. Microshading and ombre powder brows are a semi-permanent tattoo that fills sparse areas and gives the brow a powder makeup finish, with results lasting one to three years. Permanent brows require a medical eligibility check on the day, and the studio may decline a client who is not eligible then. Clients unsure about eligibility are asked to speak with a physician before booking. A full brow map is made before the procedure, and the shape cannot be changed once work has begun. Clients are asked to avoid Botox or fillers for four weeks beforehand and to skip waxing, tinting, threading or lamination for one to two weeks before. For the first week, brows should stay dry and clients should avoid sweating, gym sessions, sun, saunas and steam. Brows look darker for the first three to five days, begin to flake around days four to seven, and settle roughly 30 to 40 percent lighter once healed. The studio says healing outcomes are about half the artist's work and half aftercare.

Semi-permanent services include brow lamination, which lifts and smooths the hairs for a fuller, softer finish that lasts five to six weeks. Hybrid tint brows stain both the hairs and the skin for a soft makeup effect and last two to three weeks. Henna brows use a plant-based tint that colors the hairs and skin, with the skin stain lasting up to one to two weeks and the hair tint up to four weeks. Natural brow tint darkens the existing hairs without touching the skin and lasts about one week. Brow wax, shaping and threading results last three to four weeks.

VBrows Academy offers one-on-one full-day intensives of six to ten hours, held on Sundays at the studio. Courses include the 1-Day Deluxe Brow Lamination, Hybrid Tint and Waxing training at $1,300 with a $300 deposit, which does not include threading and is suited to beginner to intermediate students. The 1-Day Signature Hybrid Tint and Waxing training costs $1,100 with a $300 deposit and does not include lamination or threading. The 1-Day Waxing and Brow Mapping training is $850 with a $150 deposit, for beginner to intermediate students, and does not cover tinting, lamination or threading. The 1-Day Refresher and Shadow training is $550 with a $100 deposit, is for returning students who have completed a prior VBrows Academy course, and does not include a professional kit. Most courses include a professional kit, a certificate of completion and lunch. Training deposits reserve the date, are non-refundable, and are sent via Zelle.
