The salon describes itself as warm, welcoming and private, with a personalized, non-judgmental experience for each guest. Color is not offered to first-time guests until they have had an in-person consultation or discussed their options at an earlier appointment. Guests who currently straighten their hair are asked to wait until they are ready to wear their hair in its natural state before visiting.
Cuts are for wavy, curly and coily hair and are always done on dry hair. The Curly Cut with Transformation is the recommended first visit: it includes a dry curly cut, a chelating and clarifying treatment, a cleanse, conditioning and hydration, styling, coaching on products and technique, and a second cut to fine-tune. Returning clients can book a shorter dry maintenance cut, and the Express Dry Cut suits those who are not changing their length by more than three inches.
Color appointments range from a quick retouch of new growth to a retouch with a haircut and styling. Each color service includes a purifying mask and a treatment meant to preserve color, add shine and make hair easier to manage. Treatments are priced between $50 and $100 and are adjusted to hair texture, porosity and hydration level. Most clients return about twice a year once they reach their desired shape, depending on products and routine.
Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours ahead. Later cancellations carry a minimum fee of $50, up to half the price of the scheduled service. Reminders go out by text or email two days before the appointment. The first missed appointment is forgiven, but a second requires prepayment for future services. Clients running ten minutes or less late should call or text, and those more than ten minutes late should call to check whether they can still be seen. The salon accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Zelle and cash.
The salon aims to cultivate natural curls rather than tame them, and asks clients to arrive with clean, lightly styled hair so the stylist can see how the hair lies naturally.
