Urban Natural Hair has two locations. The Silver Spring salon sits downtown between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Street, and the Temple Hills salon is behind Marlow Heights Shopping Center, at the movie theater end. The salon describes itself as specializing in all natural haircare services, with a focus on locs, loose natural styles, Sisterlocks and treatments.

Services are offered to natural clients, and to transitioning clients who have at least as much natural hair as relaxed hair and agree to trim at every visit. Stylists choose the products for each client's hair, so clients are asked to share any allergies, sensitivities or dislikes before a visit. A consultation is required before starting locs or hair color. It can be held in person or over Zoom and is booked by text or call at 301.560.1500.

Clients are asked to arrive with their style already taken out, combed out and ready for shampoo, since taking out a style or doing extensive detangling carries an extra charge. The salon does not take down styles because of its service times and does not double book, so late arrivals or cancellations should be communicated. Final pricing is set by the stylist based on hair length, thickness and condition, the style chosen, and the time and skill it requires. The salon is cashless and accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Guests, including children, are not permitted, and food is not allowed in the salon.

Silver Spring is open Monday 9:30am to 8:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8:00am to 8:00pm, Wednesday 9:00am to 6:00pm, Friday 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturday 7:00am to 6:00pm, with Sunday by special request only. Parking there is on the street around the salon, in a small lot across the street, or in the Wayne Ave. garage two blocks over, and drivers should approach from Georgia Avenue rather than Fenton. In Temple Hills, park in the salon-designated spaces in front or on the street, and not in the back.

Some services are not offered: straightening such as silk presses, flat ironing and straight blowouts, faux locs, braid extensions, crochet braids, weaves, and long extensions. Any added hair must be natural length and look natural. The salon reserves the right to refuse services.

Works with each client's natural texture rather than against it, with locs as a central focus.
