Uni-hair Salon opened in 1997 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. In March 2015 it moved to Rolling Meadows, about two minutes by car from the original salon, into a space that is brighter and larger. The salon describes the room as simple and relaxing, and background music such as bossa nova, jazz, classical and Hawaiian is changed by season and month.

Clients can book color, highlights, perms and straightening with a cut, or book a cut alone. Head spa courses come in two lengths, 30 and 45 minutes, and each includes an aroma steam. Services can be combined with a blow dry, with a cut, or both. The salon has private rooms suited to guests with small children, and a fully private room for head spa services.

Bleach, double color, inner color and balayage are discussed by phone before a booking, so the stylist can plan them in advance. Booking slots are limited, so guests who cannot get a time can leave a message to request an appointment or join a waitlist, and the salon will contact them. The salon is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00am to 6:30pm, and it is closed on Mondays and on some Tuesdays on an irregular basis.

Pricing takes effect January 1, 2026. The salon says the change reflects rising overhead costs and removes gender-based price differences. Cash payments receive a trial discount of approximately 2% off the listed price, excluding bangs trims. The salon accepts credit cards and Apple Pay.

Haircuts are planned with each client around hair type, face shape, height and how easy the style is to keep up at home.
