About

Triangle Hair Removal is co-owned by Paula Rolka and her daughter, Alexis Rolka, both licensed electrologists in North Carolina. Paula came to electrolysis after 25 years as a registered nurse, mostly in an emergency room, and Alexis previously worked as a certified nursing assistant. The practice serves clients from puberty onward, including men's facial hair, ear hair and maintenance work, as well as sensitive areas such as the breast and bikini line.

Treatment uses an Apilus XCel Pur machine, combining Short Wave Thermolysis, Flash Thermolysis and the Blend method. During electrolysis, a sterile, prepackaged probe is placed into the hair follicle and a current is applied to break down the root. The practitioner checks the hair and chooses settings for each client. The business states that electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method approved by the FDA. It also notes that permanent removal usually takes several appointments over 12 to 18 months. There is no pain-free electrolysis, but discomfort can be managed and treatment adjusted for comfort.

Payment is collected after each session rather than as a large sum in advance. Session fees increase with length: 5 minutes costs $30, 15 minutes $45, 30 minutes $75, 45 minutes $90, 75 minutes $135, 90 minutes $165, 105 minutes $185 and 120 minutes $205. Treatments in the genital area carry an additional $25 fee. Every new client must first have a free consultation, and a 15 or 30 minute treatment can be added to that visit. Late arrivals, no-shows, and cancellations or reschedules made within 24 hours are charged the full appointment fee, but that fee is waived when supporting documentation, such as a doctor's note, is provided. Appointments can be booked online or by calling, texting, emailing, or using the website form, and the business usually replies within 24 to 48 hours.

Treatment is set up for each client after the practitioner assesses the hair, and settings and pacing are adjusted as needed. The business says that although no electrolysis is pain-free, discomfort can be managed.
