Trendz opened in 1996 in the Florham Park shopping district. It was formed by the merger of two salons, Highlights in Chatham and Zenas in Florham Park. The business later expanded into the space next door, where facials, spa pedicures, waxing, tanning, makeup and lashes moved into a more private setting.

About

The salon describes itself as offering the full range of hair, nail, skin and beauty services, and as welcoming to the whole family. Its menu is grouped into haircuts and color, hair styling and treatments, perms and keratins, extensions and wigs, nails, lashes, facials and waxing, makeup and tanning. Extension clients have a consultation first so the right method can be recommended. Extension bookings take a 50% deposit that is non-refundable, and rescheduling an extension application carries a $500 fee. Wigs and toppers are arranged by private consultation appointment.

Bridal clients book through an appointment request form, for in-salon or on-site service. The salon lays out a timeline: a last facial at least four weeks before the wedding, trials for color, trims, extensions and spray tan booked in advance, and last brow sculpting and waxing about a week out. Wedding week can include a spa manicure, a spa pedicure, a last spray tan and a blowout for the rehearsal dinner. Spray tanning cannot be done on the same day as nail or waxing services. Bridal parties booked outside the salon must be reserved with a credit card, and cancelling those requires two weeks notice or a 50% charge of all services.

Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 9 am to 8 pm, Friday 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturday 8:30 am to 5 pm; the salon is closed Sunday and Monday. Clients are asked to arrive 15 minutes early and to give 24 hours notice for cancellations. Service prices are base prices and can rise with factors such as hair length, density and texture, so clients should ask their hair artist about pricing. Group packages are offered for four or more people. Gratuities are not included in prices; envelopes are available at the front desk, and tips cannot be put on credit cards. The salon states that the industry average tip is 15 to 20 percent of the service. A 4% convenience fee applies to card transactions, and there is an ATM in the reception area. Most products used in the salon are also sold in the salon and online, and unused or damaged products can be exchanged for credit toward another product, within the store's return limits. The salon also hosts and supports charity events in the community.

The salon's stated aim is to bring hair, nail, skin and beauty services together under one roof.

Facials, spa pedicures, waxing, tanning, makeup and lashes take place in a private space next door to the main salon.
