Transformation Weight Loss & Wellness was founded by Dr. Annette M. Cronauer, who built the center around the idea that getting healthy comes first and weight loss follows from that. The center is in Sewickley, near the Wexford exit off I-79, and describes itself as serving the Pittsburgh area.

The red light work has its roots in the late 1800s, when Danish physicist Niels Ryberg Finsen began light therapy research in 1893 and received the Nobel Prize in 1903 for it. NASA later began studying red light therapy for astronauts on long-term space missions. The center's own claims go further, saying red light therapy can support weight loss and reverse chronic disease; those statements are the business's own and are not established outcomes.

A visit starts with a consultation, and a completed patient intake form is required before any treatment. Before the first red light session, body weight, body fat percentage and muscle percentage are measured. Sessions in the bed typically last 8 to 12 minutes, and most clients come two or three times a week until they reach their goal. Voluntary whole body vibration can follow treatment, used mainly for lymphatic drainage. The center uses Max Miracle 9600 Doctor's Professional Edition beds, which the business describes as FDA Class II medical grade devices, and the treatment includes a patented foot and head system.

The business asks clients to book with at least 24 hours' notice, since cancellations within 24 hours forfeit the reserved session. Treatment is for adults 18 and over, and children aged 12 or older may accompany a patient, though no child care is provided. Red light treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active gallbladder disease or active cancer, for people with photosensitivity or who take photosensitive medications, with a history of seizures or vertigo, with claustrophobia, or with chest pain. Clients are advised to drink 80 to 120 ounces of water after treatment, and Weight Loss program clients are asked to avoid alcohol for 24 hours. Patient photographs are kept for internal use unless the patient gives written consent. All sales are final and non-refundable.
