Touch'd Hair Studio was founded by Joy Landrum, who opened it in Downtown Long Beach after helping grow a hair extensions bar in Los Angeles. The studio's aim is to make extensions an option for clients rather than a necessity, with healthy hair as a priority.
Sew-ins and extensions are the core of the work, including beaded and braided sew-ins, microlinks and keratin extensions, and tape extensions. The studio also offers highlights and balayage, Brazilian Blowout smoothing, curly perms, curly cuts, silk press styling and curly hair care. Wig services and kids styling are available as well.
Consultations run about 30 minutes, one-on-one, to evaluate the client's hair and the look they want; they start at $25. House call and on-site visits carry a travel fee starting at $140 for 60 minutes, which varies with location, gas and tolls. The studio welcomes all hair textures and walk-ins.
Appointments can be booked through Vagaro or the Boulevard booking page, which also handles product purchases, memberships and gift cards. Cancellations made at least 24 hours ahead are not charged, late cancellations are charged 50% of the service price, and no-shows are charged the full price. The studio sells hair bundles and closures; wigs, closures and frontals are final sale, and other product exchanges must be requested within 7 days of receipt.
Extensions are offered as an option rather than a requirement, with the focus on keeping clients' hair healthy.
