Tortola Salon opened in TriBeCa in 1983. Its first clients were artists, designers and performers from the neighborhood, and the salon says many of its clients have been coming for years.

Jo Castagna and Tom Kollar co-own the salon. The approach centers on listening first, learning about each client's lifestyle, and working out a look together rather than dictating a style.

The salon describes itself as a luxury hair salon and says it pairs experienced hands with modern techniques and premium products. Visits can be booked by phone or made by dropping in, and the atmosphere is meant to feel welcoming, relaxed and built on trust.

The service menu is grouped into haircut, styling, coloring, master colorist and hair restructuring, with prices listed from a starting amount. A 4.5% city service tax applies to all services. A 4-hour cancellation notice is required, and a charge applies to missed appointments.
