Topz Hair Design

Topz Hair Design is a small team of stylists and hair professionals in the Roosevelt area of Seattle, set at the corner of Roosevelt Way and 89th. The studio describes itself as environmentally conscious, and it uses and sells Vida of New Orleans products.

Owner and stylist Kathleen Northfield has more than 30 years of experience as a stylist and salon owner. She designs hairstyles around each client's features, characteristics and day-to-day life, and she is comfortable across a wide range of styles and approaches. She puts weight on getting to know clients personally.

The studio's booking page lists services under Cuts, Color, Combinations, Retexturing and Misc. Appointments can be made online. Sunday and Monday bookings are handled by phone only, and phone calls may go unanswered during appointments, so callers can leave a message.

Environmental practices are a central part of how the studio runs. It partners with Green Circle Salons to keep chemicals, plastics, foils and electronics out of the waste stream. Hair clippings are sent into that program and reused in booms for cleaning up oil spills, excess color is centrifuged so water and chemicals can be separated, and leftover chemicals and packaging are reused. Used foils are cleaned and turned into energy, and broken electronics are taken apart so their components can go into new tools.

The studio says it looks for the cleanest products available and works with suppliers who consider their environmental impact, and it says it only uses and sells products made with natural processes and ingredients.
