About

Tomoko Spa is a Japanese spa in Beverly Hills, open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. The spa describes itself as a luxury Japanese spa. Its menu groups treatments into weekday and weekend couples massages, weekday and weekend single massages, and a face treatment, with spa treatments and gift certificates also available.

A visit starts with organic tea, a seasonal treat, and a foot bath. Single massages of 90 or 120 minutes include a 15-minute detox foot soak, and the spa asks guests to allow an extra 30 minutes beyond the treatment for the full experience. Guests are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes early. Late arrivals may get a shorter service, since treatments end at their scheduled time.

The house massage, Tomoko Signature, blends Swedish techniques with Japanese and other traditions. It uses warm aromatic oils, medium pressure, an oiled palm stroke, a warm stone treatment on the back, and a sake treatment focused on the face. The 120-minute version opens with a 15-minute foot detox massage before a 105-minute table massage. Oriental Massage is a deeper, stronger option in 90 or 120 minutes. It combines a full-body oil massage with acupressure, stretching, hot stones and two deep-fragrance muscle release creams. The spa says it suits chronic stress, pain or tension.

For couples, the menu runs from a standard 75-minute full-body couples massage with a foot detox to Hinoki and Japanese Experience packages. Hinoki packages add a soak in a private hinoki ofuro bath, Japanese tea and desserts in a private suite with its own shower and tub. The Japanese Experience adds organic teas, Japanese matcha and a small Japanese gift to take home. The Hinoki Couple Treatment pairs a 75- or 90-minute couples massage with a 60-minute soak. Couples can also book a private retreat of about three hours with a side-by-side massage, 90 private minutes with a private shower and hinoki bath, and a matcha tea ceremony with seasonal sweets. Two limited on-site parking spaces are reserved for guests booking the couple experience, and public parking is nearby.

Ninpu Massage is a prenatal treatment for guests at least 12 weeks pregnant, who should check with their prenatal care provider first. It is an oil-based 90-minute massage on the back, hips and legs. Couples massages can also be changed to a prenatal massage on request. Bigan Massage is a 75-minute face, neck, scalp and décolleté treatment, offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Spa services are for guests 16 and older. Guests should eat a light meal two to three hours before treatment and mention any health conditions or allergies when booking. Cancellations need at least 48 hours notice, and late cancellations or missed appointments are charged in full. Fresh sushi can be ordered on arrival from a third-party vendor for an extra cost; it is not part of any package, and the spa does not prepare, handle or inspect it. Gift certificates can be bought online or by phone and are final sale and non-refundable, but they do not expire and carry no fees.

The spa combines Swedish massage methods with Japanese spa traditions, using organic oils, teas and hot stones.
