Thrive Hair Bar LLC is a natural hair salon founded by Ajia, listed as founder and CEO. The menu centers on twists, braids and blowouts. Twists include two-strand twists, locs and coils; braids include cornrows and box braids; blowouts include silk presses, round brush blowouts, braid prep and wash and gos. Twist-outs can be added to two-strand twists or flat twists. The salon says it serves clients of all hair patterns, specializes in the hair health of kinky, coily and curly hair, and styles men as well as women. It does not offer relaxers, other chemical services or color. The salon says it does not add extensions or added hair to its own styles, and it offers take-downs of previous salon styles.

Locs are started with two-strand twists, comb or finger coiling, or palm rolling, using natural or traditional straight parts. Retwists are done by comb coiling and palm rolling, and loc styling is offered. The salon does not repair locs and does not start or retwist microlocs or sisterlocs, though it will style them. Hair should arrive loose and free of knots. If knots are present, detangling must be booked as an add-on, and the salon only styles hair it has washed and conditioned itself.

Pricing is by time rather than by gender or hair pattern, and it reflects the chosen style, add-ons, buildup, hair density, hair health, scalp sensitivity and length. The salon says it charges no texture fees and will not double-book appointment times. Trims are an add-on to any style and are not sold alone. Shampoo and a basic steam conditioning treatment are included. Water, green tea and fruit and vegetable smoothie shots are served during appointments. Capes are not shared between clients, tools and surfaces are sanitized between clients, and the salon says all of its stylists are Barbicide Certified.

Clients can cancel without penalty up to 24 hours before an appointment and can reschedule up to 24 hours ahead by phone, email or the booking website. A $75 non-refundable penalty applies to a cancellation or change made inside that window. Clients who are 10 or more minutes late may still be seen, with a $50 late fee and services shortened to fit the remaining time. Clients more than 15 minutes late are charged $75 and the appointment is canceled. Children must be 16 or older to be served, and anyone 17 or younger must have an adult present for the whole appointment. Cash is not accepted for salon transactions; gratuity can be paid by card or payment app, and individual stylists may accept cash tips. Refunds are not given on services.

Every service begins with an assessment of the scalp and hair, with the stylist sharing estimated texture, porosity and scalp health before choosing products and treatments. The salon says it uses only non-toxic, cruelty-free products.
