The Wax Room was founded by McKenze in March 2019 and started out in a single salon suite, open five days a week. In November 2021 it opened a storefront in Surprise and grew from one suite to six rooms.

Waxing is done with a vegan, antimicrobial hard wax that is applied at a low temperature. McKenze helped formulate it. Clients are asked to let hair grow to about a quarter inch, roughly the size of a grain of rice, which is typically about two weeks of growth. The studio lists suggested intervals of two to four weeks for the face, two to three for underarms, four weeks for bikini and Brazilian, and four to six for other body areas. Brazilian waxing covers the area from front to back, including the butt strip, and a triangle or landing strip can be kept. It is offered for women's anatomy only. Bikini and Brazilian visits require a fresh tampon or menstrual cup, and waxing during a period is allowed.

Laser hair reduction uses a Cervello multi-wavelength diode laser, which the studio says can treat all skin types and tones. The studio notes that results are most visible on fair skin with dark hair, since light blonde, gray or red hair is not picked up by the laser. Laser hair reduction is described as a reduction rather than permanent removal, with at least six to eight sessions recommended. A consultation of about 30 minutes is required before the first laser treatment. Laser can be booked as single sessions by area size or as an eight-treatment package that the studio says saves 20 percent. Packages are paid in full up front.

Policies cover booking and arrival. Cancellations or reschedules need 24 hours' notice; cancellations or no-shows inside 24 hours are charged 50 percent of the scheduled services to the card on file. Arriving significantly late may mean missing one or more services, and calling ahead is advised. Clients aged 17 and under need parent or guardian consent, and a parent or guardian must attend the first visit. Clients must be off the acne medication Accutane for six months before waxing. The Loyalty Club is automatic with no sign-up and gives credit at set spending levels, applying to services and retail but not to prepaid laser packages.

The studio focuses on a full body waxing service with laser hair reduction available, and on careful aftercare for clients who get ingrown hairs.
