The Surone Experience

The Surone Experience describes itself as a private luxury appointment salon in Southfield, with a focus on pampering and self-care and a goal of helping clients feel polished. The salon states it has served more than 5,000 clients.

The main work is installs and styles for natural hair: natural sew-ins, closure installs, quick weaves, wig installs and lace frontal wig installation. Ponytails, makeup and wedding services are also offered, and the services list includes a Masterclass offering. New clients complete a Hair History Questionnaire before their first appointment. Walk-ins are accepted based on availability, so clients should call to confirm.

Booking rules are set out clearly. Sew-in appointments are available Monday through Thursday only, and bookings close at 5 pm. Clients should arrive 15 minutes early and bring hair that is dry, since appointments with wet or damp hair are canceled. Shampoo is complimentary with every service and should be added at booking. Add-ons cannot be added within 48 hours of the appointment, and clients should come without additional guests. A $20 or $40 non-refundable deposit secures a booking, and it can only move to a new appointment booked in the same month. Clients receive a confirmation text 24 hours ahead and must confirm or cancel. Cancellations within 24 hours carry a 50% charge of the scheduled service, and no-call no-shows are banned from future bookings. Clients arriving more than 10 minutes late pay a $25 late fee, and appointments not in the chair within 10 minutes are canceled.

Fees apply outside standard hours: a $50 fee for appointments after 5 pm or before 9 am, a $50 fee for holiday appointments, and a $150 fee on top of the original price for Sunday bookings, which are off days. Lace services need the hair or wig dropped off two to three days ahead, and color services need hair dropped off at least five days in advance, with a week ahead recommended. Previously colored hair is not accepted for coloring unless the client has consulted the stylist about color correction. The studio does not fix, curl, tighten or re-glue styles it did not install.
