THE SPACE was started by co-founders Brenna Dwyer Hopkins and Claire Ladd, who began working as stylists at the West 111th Street location in 2021. They opened the salon as their own business after deciding to move away from their previous direction.
Stylists work together as a team, but each keeps their own independence and client base. The founders describe the space as one meant for creativity, independence and community, and they say creativity and growth are ongoing there, with stylists encouraged to develop their craft.
Stylists who want to refresh their practice, try new products or host a round table are welcome to get in touch. Clients book with an individual stylist directly through that stylist's own website rather than through a central booking system; general questions go through the salon's contact form.
