About

The spa is in Suite 4103 at 15905 Brookway Drive, with ample parking. It is open Thursday through Sunday from 10:00am to 7:00pm and closed Monday through Wednesday. Clients can book by phone at (704) 997-8707, by email at info@theskratchspa.com, or through the website. After booking, intake forms are sent by text or email. The spa describes itself as a newer concept that focuses on the experience rather than on pricing.

Experiences are not massage. Practitioners work with brushes, rakes, scalp tools and silicone scrubbers, combining scratching, brushing, tracing and changes in texture, and no fingernails are used. Before a first visit, clients share their focus areas, preferred pressure, the sensations they enjoy and anything they want avoided. The spa states that its services are non-therapeutic and aimed at comfort and relaxation, that it does not offer deep tissue or muscle manipulation, and that its experiences are not meant to diagnose or treat medical conditions. According to the spa, scratching releases feel-good hormones and lowers cortisol.

Body SKRATCH Experiences range from 30 minutes (The Whisper) to two hours (The Catharsis). Options include The Pulse, The Rhythm, The Trance 4 Two for two people to share, and Brush-A-Bye-Baby, designed for children aged 9 months to 4 years, offered between 5 and 7 PM to help a little one settle for sleep without melatonin. That session runs 30 to 45 minutes and ends with a hypoallergenic lotion. The spa lists experience prices as not published on its site, with experiences generally ranging from $75 to $255 depending on length and service selection, according to the spa.

For a scalp-focused visit, SKALP SKRATCH comes in a 60-minute Deep Calm version and a 90-minute Total Release version, and it can extend to the face, neck, decollete, shoulders and arms. SKRACIAL pairs a facial performed by licensed estheticians with SKRATCH sensory techniques and comes in 30-minute, 60-minute and 90-minute versions. Couples can relax side by side and combine services and durations, using a couple's suite or separate rooms. Custom combinations can be arranged by calling the spa.

The spa says its techniques have been developed over two decades and that its team is expertly trained and licensed. It says it adds new experiences and tools based on customer feedback. Gift cards are available.

The spa works with specialty tools and scratching, brushing and tracing rather than massage, and tailors each visit to the preferences clients share before their first appointment.
