The Silk Suite

The Silk Suite is a studio on Monument Avenue in Richmond focused on waxing, with brow and lash services and facials added alongside. The studio describes itself as a premier waxing and skincare studio.

Visits take place one on one in a small, private room. The studio sits inside the Wellness Advocates building, with a free parking lot right outside. After checking in at reception and the waiting area, clients are shown to the treatment suite, the first room down the hall.

Waxing ranges from a lip or underarm wax of around ten minutes to a full leg wax of about fifty minutes. The Brazilian wax covers the pubic region, including the area between the cheeks, and a Sensual Brazilian variant leaves a landing strip. Clients are asked to let hair grow for two to three weeks before the appointment, and to have at least two weeks since their last shave or close trim for a Brazilian.

Facials are tailored to each client's skin, whether the concern is dryness, acne, aging or sensitivity, and the studio suggests a facial every four to six weeks depending on skin needs. Retail items include a body scrub, a glycolic and salicylic serum, and a wash cloth.

Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cancellations or changes need 48 hours' notice to avoid a fee. Memberships and package pricing are available by contacting the studio.

Waxing techniques are chosen to keep discomfort low, and the studio notes that sensation usually lessens with regular waxing. Products are picked for skin-safe, non-irritating ingredients without synthetic fragrance.
