The Platinum Iris is run from a salon suite at Phenix Salon Suites in College Park. Owner Iris Perez is the nail technician, and the menu runs from manicures and pedicures through gel and acrylic enhancements, nail art, repairs and soak-off removal.

Clients check in on the upper floor of the building, where the suite is located. They text when they arrive and are met to be walked to the suite. The space is small, so anyone who wants to bring an extra person needs to check in with the owner first.

Platinum Freestyle is designed at the artist's discretion and can include textures, glitter, encapsulations or acrylic designs, with a version that adds rhinestones or charms. Show Stopper Freestyle is a bold design built on bling and strong color combinations, and its price does not include length.

Pedicures include a volcano spa series. Natural-nail versions use a detox pedicure, nail shaping, cuticle care, sugar scrub, collagen mask and hot towel, with gel polish in three options. Big-toe enhancements in the volcano service are gel-based, were formerly called AcryPedi, and do not use tips on toes for length. Men's and paired pedicure options are also offered.

Appointments are booked through the studio's Glossgenius page. Many services require a nonrefundable deposit. One reschedule is allowed within the month of the deposit with at least two business days' notice, and cancellations without two days' notice are charged 80 percent of the service total. Late arrivals get a ten-minute grace period, after which a late charge applies. Card payments carry a 3.5 percent convenience fee, and food is allowed during pedicures but not during hand services.

Built around individual planning: freestyle and detailed nail art are worked out with the client on length, color and design, and fills are limited to the business's own sets.
