The Nellie House

The salon takes its name from Cornelia Nellie Fairbanks, who was born and raised in the house in 1848. She was a suffragette, a president of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the wife of the 26th vice president of the United States. According to the salon, the house was also a stop on the Underground Railway, used by the family of an abolitionist. The business was previously known as Designs Unlimited.

Danelle Turnock bought the business when it became available and opened it as The Nellie House. It is locally owned and run by women, and it keeps the historic home as its setting.

Hair services include haircare, facials, waxing and extensions. Massage therapy is offered in house through Recharge and Glow, with more than 15 massage services to choose from. HaloSauna sessions take place in private rooms and use far infrared heat, with optional red light and salt therapy. A Reset Package bundles a HaloSauna session with red light, a 35-minute Energetic Foot Detox Bath and a 30-minute massage into one booking, which can be made by phone.

Beyond appointments, the salon sells hand-selected premium hair products, skincare, supplements and self-care items from several brands.

The salon presents its foot baths and sauna sessions as supporting detoxification and circulation, and recommends a series of sessions for the best results.

Massage and sauna sessions happen in private rooms, and the HaloSauna has adjustable lighting.
