The Nail Bar started as a nail business that launched from a suite before moving into a small salon space in Clinton Township, where it has operated for about three years. Lauren Snyder founded it after learning hard gel work at a small nail salon in Wyandotte and spending a short time at a larger salon following her move to the Macomb County area.
Structured gel manicures are the salon's focus, built on a thicker base than standard gel to create shape and strength. Gel manicures are done dry, without water or soaking, and include cuticle care, prep and gel application, with the gel removed by e-file. Fills follow a similar method: the old color is e-filed off, the base is left in place and smoothed, and a new gel layer is added. The salon says structured gel does not damage the natural nail when prep is done properly, and that wear typically runs two to four weeks depending on the client, with daily cuticle oil helping it last longer.
Pedicures go beyond a basic polish change. The gel pedicure includes a soak, cuticle care, nail clipping and filing, callus treatment, a sea salt scrub, a lotion massage and a gel finish with cuticle oil. Pedicures use a creamy lotion from Farmhouse Fresh. A toe polish change does not include nail cutting or cuticle work.
The salon offers appointments for occasions and holidays. Waitlist sign-up is handled by email, and clients are asked to provide their name, phone number and the service they want.
Gel services are done dry, and the salon says structured gel does not damage the natural nail when prep is done properly.
