The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa

Spa in Riverside, CA

The hotel began in 1876 as an adobe boarding house and was opened by Frank Miller. It grew into a full-service hotel in the early 1900s, and by 1903 it had more than 200 guestrooms after the Mission Wing was added in Mission Revival style, drawing on features from more than 20 California missions. The Cloister, Spanish Wing and Rotunda Wing followed as demand grew, with the Rotunda Wing completed in 1931. Guided tours cover its architecture, stories and well-known guests, and a bell dating to 1247 hangs on the property, which the hotel describes as believed to be the oldest bell in Christendom.

The spa is set inside the hotel and designed in a Tuscan-inspired style with Spanish mission architecture, including archways, frescoes and marble mosaics. Rather than offering a fixed list alone, the spa builds custom-tailored menus of treatments, therapies and massages, and states that its certified spa therapists design an individual plan for each guest. Spa guests can use a eucalyptus steam room, a whirlpool, relaxation lounges and an outdoor pool, and the heated pool and Jacuzzi are open daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The spa boutique carries skincare, wellness products and Mission Inn merchandise. Appointments can be booked by phone or online, and early booking is recommended for weekends, holidays and peak travel seasons. For current cancellation, rescheduling and age requirements, the spa asks clients to contact it directly.

The property has 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space and 238 guest rooms and suites.

Six restaurants and lounges are on site. The Mission Inn Restaurant has an indoor dining room with a display kitchen and an outdoor Spanish Patio, and it serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and a Sunday brunch buffet. Mission Inn Steakhouse focuses on USDA Prime beef, seafood and classic sides, with a dress code of upscale business casual. Bella Trattoria serves Italian dishes on Main Street with sidewalk and patio seating, Las Campanas serves Mexican food and tequila in a garden patio, the California Lounge offers cocktails and small plates, and the Presidential Lounge honors the ten U.S. presidents who visited the property. The public can dine, shop and join tours without a hotel stay.

Spa treatments are built around custom-tailored menus, and the spa says certified therapists design an individual plan for each guest.
