The Hygge House

The Hygge House, at 1654 Diffley Road in Eagan, is a collective of independently operated beauty and wellness providers. The business describes itself as a collective of independent professionals offering salon, spa, wellness and professional services. Clients book directly with the independent provider they choose rather than through a corporate structure, and each provider sets their own pricing, specialties and client relationships.

The provider groups are hair, skin, aesthetics, injectables and tox and filler treatments. Hair services come from independent stylists working in private studios, covering precision cuts, customized color, blonding, dimensional highlights, updos for special occasions, hair treatments, and extensions, custom hairpieces and hair loss solutions. Skin services include facials, professional waxing, lymphatic therapy and advanced or medical-grade treatments, and the injectable services are performed by an Advanced Practice Nurse.

The building itself has eleven private studios built to the requirements of the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology, with a manager on site. Studios range from luxury double and single rooms with windows to premium oversized rooms, and rent runs from $320 to $585 depending on size and window options. Internet and utilities are included, complimentary on-site laundry is available, and studio owners receive one week of rent-free time each year.

Prospective renters move through five steps: inquiry, a tour, alignment with the collective, signing a license agreement, and moving in. Renters provide copies of their licenses, proof of renter's and liability insurance, and proof of a Minnesota business entity. A deposit of one month's license fee is paid at signing, and a background and credit check is required. A provider quiz is also available to help clients find a matching provider.

Independent providers run their own practices under one roof, each setting their own pricing, specialties and client relationships. Injectable work is kept conservative, aimed at subtle refinement rather than dramatic change.
