The Flutter Club

The Flutter Club is a private waxing studio in San Antonio, run by its owner, a licensed esthetician who specializes in waxing. The studio says it aims to be a space free of judgment where every body is welcome, and it welcomes first-time waxing clients as well as regulars.

Waxing is the studio's whole focus. Services cover the bikini and Brazilian area, the face, legs, arms, back and front of the body, and prices range from $15 for small areas such as the ears, nose or neck to $85 for a Brazilian with full butt. A new-client Brazilian is $50, a standard Brazilian is $60, and full legs with toes start at $80 and depend on hair growth and service needs. Face waxing at $60 can include brows, upper lip, chin and sideburns. The studio also offers packages that can be bought in bulk and used at any time.

According to the studio, waxing pulls hair out at the root, which it says means longer gaps between sessions. Before a visit, shaving and plucking should stop at least two weeks ahead, ideally once hair has grown to roughly half an inch. In the lead-up, harsh skincare, retinoid products and scrubbing treatments should be kept off the waxed area. Afterward, guests should hold off on hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hard workouts and friction for 24 to 48 hours, keep the area out of sunlight and tanning beds during that window, and wait 48 hours before scrubbing it. Two aftercare products, an ingrown-hair roll-on and a botanical scrub, are sold at the studio during appointments and are not available online.

Booking terms: a $5 deposit applies to appointments, and there is a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals. Same-day cancellations carry a $10 fee to rebook, and rescheduling with less than 24 hours' notice requires a new appointment within the same calendar month as the original. Clients who no-call, no-show are restricted from future bookings. Male significant others are not permitted in the treatment room during services. All services and products are non-refundable. Booksy lists hours of 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, with the studio closed on Sundays.
