Hair color is the core of the work. Every color and highlight service includes The Famous Darling Blowout, a shampoo, scalp massage and round-brush blowout that takes about 45 minutes. New clients have a consultation as part of their first appointment, and blonde highlights and balayage begin with a complimentary consultation of about fifteen minutes that can be selected when booking. Color is built on the founder's custom color program, and every stylist is hand-picked and trained in it.

Beyond color, the salon offers women's haircuts, which can be booked alone or paired with a color service in one visit, and men's haircuts. Men's cuts include executive, clipper and scissor styles priced from $39 to $75 depending on the stylist, with the pro blow-dry included, along with beard trims, camo color for gray blending and men's brow color. Women's cuts include one complimentary bang trim between visits, booked with the stylist who cut the hair. Hair with extensions, extra volume, length or texture may need more time, which can affect pricing.

For hair that needs extra care, the salon offers L'Oréal Professionnel repair treatments: a bond repair that is usually recommended after blonde highlights or balayage and lasts about two weeks, Metal Detox, which is recommended before color to clear metal buildup left by hard water, and a deep conditioning mask with a scalp massage that takes about ten minutes. Brazilian Blowout is a smoothing treatment described as staying frizz-free for up to twelve weeks, and Brazilian Blowout Rewind is offered as a gray hair treatment.

Booking is done online or by phone and text at 214-346-3495, or by email at askdarling@thedocutandcolor.com. A credit card is required to hold any appointment booked online, and online booking allows up to two guests at once. Changes and cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice; the first late one carries no fee, and later late ones are treated as no-shows. A first no-show is charged 50% of the booked value and a second is charged in full. Arriving more than ten minutes late may mean the service is adjusted or rescheduled. Credit cards are accepted for all services and products, cash tips are welcome but not required, and gift cards are sold. The salon is open Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday.

Hair color comes first, delivered with a warm, Southern-hospitality welcome and a custom color program that every stylist is trained in.
