The Darling Starling Salon

The Darling Starling is an owner-operated salon built by Frank Mulone and Holly, and it opened in early 2021. The salon describes itself as East Boston's premier boutique salon.

Visits begin with a conversation about what the client wants, how they live day to day, and what helps them feel their best. The space is described as eclectic, creative and relaxed, with a music playlist, and the salon aims to be welcoming and comfortable for every client.

Every service is booked a la carte. Balayage, Deva cuts plus color, and vivid colors are available on request. Vivid colors are custom mixed formulas that take longer than typical color services. New color clients need to book a free consult or contact the salon before their first color appointment.

Booking is available online or by text, and texting is the quickest way to reach the salon. Cancellations and reschedules should be made at least 24 hours ahead. No-shows are charged, and clients who do not give notice before the appointment time will not be invited to rebook.

Hours are closed Monday and Sunday, Tuesday through Thursday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. These are booking times, and appointments are first come, first served.

The sister shop, Painted Plover Provisions, sells handmade goods from independent makers within 200 miles of East Boston.
