The Curl Co.

The Curl Co. is owned by Hannah Jak, a curl specialist who works only with curly hair. The salon is built around cutting naturally curly hair and does not take on color or chemical services, so the focus stays on shape and styling.

Appointments are by appointment only, and walk-ins are not accepted. A new client's first visit always includes a wash and a curly set. For follow-up visits, clients decide whether they want cleansing and styling included. The salon describes its appointments as an experience, comparing them to life coaching for your hair. To get the most from a visit, clients are asked to arrive with curls detangled, dry, and worn down in their natural texture, without buns, braids, or twist-outs.

Cuts are shaped dry, which lets the stylist watch how each curl springs and settles before shaping it. Each session pairs the haircut with a curl-enhancing styling and an education session. The salon uses the Innersense line, which it describes as organic and plant-based, and sells a curated selection of those products either in the salon or by order for pick-up.

Children with curly hair who are 10 and under can book a curly cut. These appointments run about 20 minutes and include a quick curl refresh. Hair is not dried unless a longer appointment is booked. Cancellations or rescheduling need at least 24 hours' notice, and non-emergency late cancellations and no-shows carry a service fee of 50% of the appointment cost.

Each cut is individualized rather than built on a single curly method, with hair shaped dry in its natural state so the stylist can see the curl pattern as it forms.
