The salon was opened in 2013 by Lisa Renee' Reyes as an eclectic, industrial and retro color bar in Waxhaw. The salon describes itself as the original color bar in town. Its design and music give it a distinct feel, and the team works mostly on color, extensions and cuts.

Color is formulated for each client based on their hair, color history and goals rather than taken from a standard shelf formula. Blondes, brunettes and warm copper tones are all offered in balayage and dimensional color. Vivid and fantasy shades such as pinks, blues and reds are available, and color correction is offered for box color, bad color batches and buildup, with photos recommended ahead of the visit.

Appointments can be booked online at any hour through Phorest. Vivid color, color correction and extensions need a text or consultation before booking, while cuts, styling, keratin treatments and single-process color can be booked directly. Extension pricing is per head and depends on hair type, amount and color, so it is quoted at the consultation before anything is ordered. Prices for other services vary by stylist and appointment and are given at the consultation. A deposit reserves the hair and install date for extensions.

New clients pay a 50 percent deposit that holds their spot and is taken off the total. A reservation is not held until it is confirmed. No-call and no-show appointments are charged the full scheduled service. The salon does not offer refunds. Services may be redone at the owner's discretion, but a change of mind does not qualify. If the reserved time is not enough to finish a color service, the appointment continues over more than one visit, with each visit charged separately.

The salon is open Tuesday from 10am to 3pm, Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, and Saturday from 9:30am to 5pm. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The team has access to continuing education, and the salon runs an apprentice program for newer stylists.

Color is formulated individually for each client, taking into account their hair, history and goals. The salon only recommends at-home hair care it expects to suit the client.
