The Black Door works with natural textures and says its aim is to celebrate beauty and style openly, as each client is. Its work centers on shaping hair, tone and dimension so the natural texture is the starting point.

Some are priced by stylist level (Rising Star, Stylist or Master), and listed prices are base prices that can change with hair length, texture, starting condition and the result wanted. Extra time is $25 per 15 minutes when a natural texture service runs long or needs more care.

First-time color clients are asked to send their full name, email, a clear photo of their current hair and an inspiration photo before booking. The salon recommends trims every two to four months and deep conditioning moisture or protein treatments every two to four weeks, with plans adjusted to hair texture. Waitlist requests can be sent by text or made through the online booking portal, and children are accepted from age 12.

The salon is open Tuesday from 10 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3 PM, and is closed Sundays and Mondays. Clients have free Wi-Fi, metered parking at the front and back, and a parking garage is at 1 Pearl Street.

Centers natural textures and shapes them through cut, tone and dimension, with maintenance plans set to each client's hair texture.
