About

The Best Electrolysis opened in Coppell, Texas in May 2017 and is run by its owner, Jo Moncrief, who is a certified electrologist. The studio offers permanent electrolysis hair removal, sessions that run from 15 minutes to an hour or more, and a set of skin care services that use electrolysis for mole, benign lesion and red vein work. Clients are drawn from Coppell, Irving, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Carrollton and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Hair removal is priced by time. According to the business, a 15-minute session is $50, 30 minutes is $78, 45 minutes is $99 and 60 minutes is $110. Sessions of 90 minutes or longer are arranged by direct request rather than through the online booking site. New clients booking a session of 30 minutes or longer receive 10 minutes of electrolysis free on their first visit. Topical lidocaine is available on request at no extra charge. Before an appointment, hair should have grown to about 1/16 inch, which is usually one or two days of growth.

Skin care work is handled separately. Mole removal has a minimum charge of $100 per mole, with discounts for several moles, and the business says moles are removed without scarring when aftercare directions are followed. Mole removal requires a dermatologist visit within one year of booking, with no change to the mole since that visit, and appointments run 45 to 60 minutes. Benign lesions such as milia, keratosis, sebaceous hyperplasia, skin tags and cherry angiomas also need a dermatologist check within one year of booking. A free consultation is offered to look at lesions, but that visit does not include free removal. Lesion and vein removal are charged on top of the electrolysis time booked, based on complexity and the amount of work. The business says red vein removal is not effective on the legs and that it usually takes at least two appointments, with an approximate 60-80% improvement after the first treatment as its own estimate.

Appointments are confirmed by email, with a text reminder the day before, and messages are said to receive replies within 24 hours. Hours are Wednesday through Friday, 11:00am to 7:00pm, with a Saturday session from 11:00am to 4:00pm offered once a month. Sterile disposable probes and gloves are used for each client, and tools are sterilized in an autoclave or dry heat sterilizer. The business describes its space as private, professional and comfortable, and says it reports five-star client reviews on Google and Yelp.

Treatments are customized for each client's sensitivity, skin type and hair type, and treatment areas are spaced out to limit heating of the skin and reduce the risk of pigmentation.
