The Bare Skin Lounge

The Bare Skin Lounge is a Pasadena studio that offers waxing only for women. It is upstairs in suite 203 at 2061 N. Los Robles Ave, and there is a large free parking lot, though clients should allow a few extra minutes to find a space.

Services fall into two groups. Waxing covers full body work and Brazilian waxing, done with a mix of hard and soft wax that the studio says is hypoallergenic and suitable for all areas. Skin care covers two intimate-area treatments: Vajacials, which the studio says can help keep skin clear and balanced between waxing visits, reduce ingrown hairs and calm irritation, and Intimate Lightening, meant to brighten and even out tone in the bikini line, inner thighs and underarms.

The studio describes itself as Pasadena's best Brazilian waxer, which is its own claim. Professional aftercare exfoliants and moisturizers are sold to help reduce ingrown hairs and hyperpigmentation.

Clients complete a consent form before a waxing appointment and should reschedule if they are feeling sick. Waxing during a period is permitted with a clean tampon or cup, and fresh tampons and wipes are kept in the studio. Hair that was shaved recently needs two to three weeks of growth before booking, and long hair should not be trimmed beforehand. Afterward, the area should stay clean and dry for 24 hours, with no swimming, hot tubs, saunas, direct sun, tanning, workouts, scented products, tight clothing or shaving in that window. Exfoliating two to three times a week, starting on day three, is recommended to help prevent ingrown hairs.

Booking requires a valid card and a non-refundable deposit that is applied to the total on the day. Deposits carry over only when an appointment is rescheduled at least 24 hours ahead, and one reschedule is allowed. Each appointment has a 5-minute grace period, and late arrivals without notice are not seen. A fee of 50% of the service total applies to no-shows, rescheduling within 24 hours and late arrivals. Clients may cancel or reschedule twice for period reasons without a charge; after that a $25 missed service fee applies. Cash and Zelle are preferred, and exact amounts are requested because no change is kept. Guests and children are not permitted at appointments.
