Katrina Gleed opened the Atkinson shop to honor her father, Carlton W. Gleed, a World War II veteran. Both are set up as cozy, classic salons with a patriotic character.

The veterans discount was his idea and is still offered in his memory. Veterans and first responders get a $10 haircut at either location. Both shops cut for the whole family, and the Atkinson location takes walk-ins as well as appointments.

Atkinson is on Route 121. Windham is on the lower level of The Country Shoppes and is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 3pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Windham books online or by phone. At Atkinson, foil, balayage and ombre are available after 12pm, and Windham prices for ladies and girls match its men's pricing for the same cuts.
