Thairapy PDX was created by Lyndsay Maderis, who works there as owner, extensionist and stylist. Extensions are a major focus of the salon, and the owner says she has hand selected extension specialists from around the United States to work there.

About

Color and cut services run from a conditioning add-on and gloss or toner up through base color, global color, custom blending and custom or global blonding. Cut and style and shampoo and style are also offered. The listed prices are starting points, and each stylist sets individual pricing. Bang trims are complimentary for returning guests.

Extension options include Fusion, sew-in wefts, tape-ins, halos, toppers, custom clip-ins, combline and wigs. Fusion extensions use keratin bonds, last about three to six months and take two to eight hours to apply. They are available in ethically sourced, traceable hair in all textures. Tape-ins use a medical grade adhesive, take thirty minutes to an hour to apply and last three to seven weeks with care. Wefts are sewn onto a thin cloth strip and last four to twelve weeks. Combline extensions are attached strand by strand for coverage at the crown, hairline and nape and need fills every four to ten weeks. Clients can review options at a consultation. Some stylists offer that consultation for free and others charge for it. Wigs and hairpieces, including custom orders, are also available.

The salon says it cares about clients and the planet. It collects, recycles and repurposes hair clippings, used foils, color tubes, excess color, paper, plastics, glass and spa waste through a partnership with Green Circle Salon, which the salon says has let it save 95% of its waste. The salon reports that in 2018 it diverted more than 600 lbs of waste from landfills and 70 lbs of liquid waste from waterways.

Cancelling or rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice may incur a charge of 50% of the reserved services. A no-show is charged the full value of the reserved services to the card on file. Groups or parties need at least thirty days notice to avoid a 50% cancellation fee. Services are not refunded once provided, and clients are asked to arrive five minutes early. Children under 12 may not accompany a client during a service. Major credit cards and cash are accepted, but personal checks are not. Street parking is available in 90 and 180 minute zones. Gift certificates can be used within one year of purchase and cannot be redeemed for cash.
