Taylor Clark

Taylor Clark Stylist is a solo hair practice in San Rafael with 20 years of experience as a stylist. The studio is at 1348 4th Street, Suite 230. The stylist has trained with Bumble and Bumble, Framesi, Schwarzkopf, Vidal Sassoon, Wella and Kevin Murphy, and has taught hair skills in several programs.

Rather than booking by a single service, clients choose a session length. A short session covers barbering or clipper cuts for returning clients whose hair is no longer than the ears. A standard session is a one-hour-and-a-half haircut, either keeping an existing cut or creating a new style. Two-hour sessions cover all-over color, root touch-ups, face-framing highlights on the top of the hair, and family haircuts, and are for returning clients. Three-hour sessions, the most commonly booked, combine all-over color and a cut, partial highlighting and a cut, or lightening of the roots and ends. Four-hour sessions are for intensive lightening and coloring, and for highlighting and cutting thick hair.

Pricing is hourly, so clients pay for the stylist's time, and the service is all-inclusive with no tipping. Clients who are unsure how much time to book can contact the stylist with questions before they reserve.

Cancellations or reschedules need at least 24 hours' notice. Later changes carry a $100 per hour booked fee charged to the card on file. Color or cut issues reported within 7 days of the visit are corrected at no extra charge, while a change of mind about a hairstyle is not covered by a complimentary service. Clients running more than 15 minutes late may need to reschedule or have their service shortened. The salon describes itself as offering the highest level of satisfaction.

Works on a realistic basis, aiming for healthy, reasonable color and cutting processes, with each process explained to the client beforehand. Cuts and styles are chosen to be maintainable at home.
