TANnessee works by appointment only, open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 7:00pm, at its studio in Franklin. Spray tanning is the core service: an airbrush session takes about 15 minutes, and a certified airbrush specialist color matches the bronzing solution to each client's skin tone before applying it.

The studio uses Norvell solutions, which contain vitamins and antioxidants and are formulated for all skin types. The studio describes the finish as a just-off-the-beach glow. Norvell's cosmetic bronzer solutions are water-soluble and can rub off onto clothing or light-colored hair, and the studio also sells Norvell skincare and tan-extending products. It says its sunless odor encapsulation virtually eliminates sunless odor.

After a session, color develops over 2 to 4 hours, and drying before dressing takes about 8 to 12 minutes. A professional airbrush tan typically lasts 5 to 7 days, according to the studio's FAQ. For best results, clients are asked to wax or shave 24 hours before a sunless application and to avoid pools, spas and ocean water for the first 48 hours. Clients should not tan more than 3 times in a 2-week period.

Airbrush tans do not protect against UV rays, and Norvell solutions contain no SPF, so sun protection is still needed outdoors. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice; changes made with less notice are charged at 100% of the scheduled service amount.

Manicures and pedicures are also offered alongside the tanning services, so clients can book nail care and a spray tan in the same studio.
